COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Santa will visit neighborhoods next week at 7:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday as the Pullman Lions Club escorts him (visiting Southside Military and College Hills on Monday, Pioneer and Southside Sunnyside on Tuesday, Northside Sunnyside on Wednesday, and Northside Military on Thursday).  Pullman Radio
  • A local toy drive is underway to bring holiday joy to children in Pullman — organizers invite community members to donate new or gently used toys at designated drop-off sites today.  KXLY
  • Extreme Team brightened Cowley Park with festive decorations and community activities that brought residents together to celebrate the holiday season. The event offered a welcoming space for local families to enjoy the spirit of the holidays.  KXLY

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories announced Ashok Balasubramanian as its new Vice President of Engineering Services. He will lead teams in the United States and Canada to drive innovation after serving in multiple roles at the company since 2019.  Whitman County Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • United Way of Whitman County has enrolled over 1,000 children in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, now reaching half of all age-eligible kids. Volunteers and WSU student interns staff enrollment booths at local events from Tekoa to Uniontown.  Pullman Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Pullman received a $500,000 grant from the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program to build a Veterans Memorial Park, a project that will cost $1.75 million and be completed by the end of 2027.  The Daily Evergreen

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Jan. 4, the Spokane Arena will host a Washington State and Oregon State men's basketball game that will benefit local food banks by collecting canned and non-perishable items for Second Harvest Inland Northwest — fans can purchase tickets through TicketsWest or use season passes if eligible.  KXLY
