COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Pullman Child Welfare Sharing Tree Christmas gift drive is underway with trees set up at Neill’s Coffee & Ice Cream downtown, Walmart, and Columbia Bank—families can leave an unwrapped gift by December 7 while Pullman Radio broadcasts live today from Neill’s between 10:00 and 4:00 to promote the effort.  Pullman Radio
  • The Community Band of the Palouse invites local residents to attend a free fall concert today at Pullman High School— the event begins at 7:00 p.m. and welcomes all ages.  Pullman Radio

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Friends of Whitman County Library released the Colors of the Palouse 2026 Calendar featuring local photographers' work—proceeds from the $15 calendars support programs at the district's 14 branches available at local venues and online.  Pullman Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Pullman announced that Veterans Memorial Park received a $500K grant from the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program after city staff applied on May 1. The project has a total cost of $1.75M with $1M raised and must be built by the end of 2027 on Fairmont Road next to the cemetery + it will honor local veterans.  Whitman County Gazette
  • All lanes on US-12 near Arrow Bridge will close tomorrow at noon for emergency rock scaling as crews remove large rock sections from a nearby slope—drivers will be detoured via alternative state routes with no set reopening time.  Big Country News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Whitman Hospital & Medical Clinics projected a $1,695,108 drop in operating revenue for 2026 at a public hearing on November 17, with revenue at $59,072,142 compared to $61,508,047 in 2025. CFO Abby Smith said changes may occur before the budget is finalized & the $4,265,000 capital budget will fund projects like a new clinic building & equipment upgrades.  Whitman County Gazette
  • WSU chemist Anjali Sharma received two NIH grants totaling over $5.2 million for research on new treatments for traumatic brain injury and corneal neovascularization + the five-year awards will support her lab's work on dendrimer-based nanotechnologies that target injured neurons and abnormal eye blood vessels.  Pullman Radio
