COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Pullman Fire Department is accepting donations of food, toys and clothing at Fire Station #1 to support local families during the holiday season—donations range from non-perishable food and books to winter coats and hygiene items and will be gathered until December 19. Pullman Radio
- ➤ The Community Action Center invites Whitman County businesses to join The Great Food Fight on the Palouse, a food drive competition running November 12 through December 10 — businesses must register by November 19 and can start collecting donations on that day to support the Community Food Bank that helped over 400 children between July and October. The event gives local businesses a way to help families as food assistance funding decreases. Pullman Radio
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The WSU Board of Regents voted on November 14 to raise tuition by 3.3% for the 2026-27 school year, adding $385 for in-state undergraduates and $445 for graduate students. They also approved a $12 million plan to upgrade Gesa Field with a new videoboard, sound system and LED lights—WSU Athletics must raise $8 million by December 15 to complete the project before the 2026 football season. - ➤ Washington State University announced today that Athletics Director Anne McCoy will no longer serve, and Interim Director Jon Haarlow will manage day-to-day operations during a national search for her replacement—this change comes after McCoy led Cougar Athletics to record academic and competitive achievements. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Five WSU students have been diagnosed with whooping cough and are isolating until they finish a five-day antibiotic course — Whitman County Public Health stated there is no outbreak in Pullman despite the virus circulating. KXLY
