EDUCATION NEWS

  • Washington State University fired athletic director Anne McCoy—university officials said the decision ended her role and will prompt a search for a replacement.  KXLY
  • Adams Elementary is preparing to move out because its building will be rebuilt — school officials say details on the timeline and temporary arrangements will be announced soon.  KXLY
  • WSU has begun a system-wide redesign and opened a feedback survey for its community to shape campus plans, with responses accepted until December 5. The survey will guide four planning stages set to run through July – engaging diverse stakeholders – as part of President Elizabeth Cantwell’s initiative.  The Daily Evergreen

HEALTH NEWS

  • A new federal pilot program will start Jan. 1 in Washington and five other states to use artificial intelligence for deciding if Medicare procedures get covered—critics including Sen. Murray say it may lead to privatization. Doctors will volunteer to submit their requests so they can review any denials the system makes.  KXLY

  • WSU President Betsy Cantwell fired Cougar Athletics Director Anne McCoy and named Athletics COO Jon Haarlow as interim AD. The university will conduct a national search for a new AD—filling the vacancy left by McCoy.  Pullman Radio
