EDUCATION NEWS

  • Pullman High School is hosting a Halloween Trunk or Treat today in its back lot from 4:30 — 6:30 p.m. Attendees can support PHS Volleyball at Senior Night starting at 7:00 p.m.  Pullman Radio
  • Washington State University will receive $19 million from a five-year grant to expand its statewide whole grains initiative, which includes a $10 million grant from the Washington Research Foundation matched by the Washington Grain Commission. The funding will build a new Center for Health, Environment, Food and Farming and a commercial kitchen to help entrepreneurs develop whole-grain products for schools and local markets.  Pullman Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Washington workers will see their Paid Family and Medical Leave premium increase on January 1 as the rate rises from 0.92 percent to 1.13 percent. Employers will pay 28.57 percent of the premium and employees 71.43 percent while the program has paid over 1.7 billion dollars in benefits to more than 218,000 workers this year.  KXLY
  • A proposed park levy in Pullman aims to add more park staff to improve park services—officials expect to share funding and job details soon.  KXLY

  • Patients continue to face surprise medical bills—local hospitals have not yet explained the billing practices that lead to these extra charges.  KXLY

  • Velocity will host its first-ever home playoff match later this season—marking a milestone as the team aims to advance in the postseason.  KXLY
  • The Chiefs beat the Blades on a last-second goal in a nail-biting game that left fans thrilled— the win boosted the team as they prepare for their next league match.  KXLY
