CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Palouse Watercolor’s annual fall show began October 2 at Artisans at the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown and features works by 15 member artists along with a special section of watercolors by the late Junette Dahmen—donor of the barn. An opening reception will be held on Sunday, October 5 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and the exhibition is available during regular gallery hours Thursday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Pullman Radio
- ➤ The Regional Theatre of the Palouse will host a meet the cast cabaret on October 4 from 7:30—9:00 pm where local community members can meet the stars of the upcoming production Man of La Mancha. The show will begin on October 16, and tickets are available for purchase. Pullman Radio
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Anglers in Idaho and Washington will resume keeping adult wild chinook salmon on Saturday when the cooler Snake River temperatures allow wild fish retention after a temporary closure due to a late migration from warm water. Pullman Radio
- ➤ Pullman officials reminded residents on October 2 that burning leaves, garden, and yard waste is banned within city limits — residents can use the Whitman County Landfill for free disposal or get a yard waste cart from Pullman Disposal for weekly pickup. Pullman Radio
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Pullman Regional Hospital board approved a patient care expansion that will remodel 30,000 sq ft and add 3,000 sq ft of new space, with the first phase starting next month. Voters approved a 27.5 million dollar bond in 2022 but rising construction costs increased the total to 41 million dollars while a new medical office building is planned for a later phase — the hospital will cover remaining costs with donations and funds.
