CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Latah County Historical Society and University of Idaho Library will host a closing reception at the UI Library on Monday, September 29 from 4:00–6:00 pm for the Smithsonian traveling exhibit Voices and Votes: Democracy in America — the exhibit will remain open until Friday, October 3 with free activities and light refreshments available. - ➤ The Latah County Historical Society will host tours of Moscow Cemetery on October 12 and October 26 at 1:30 p.m.—guide Sandra Kelly will lead attendees through local history. Tickets cost $12 for LCHS Members and $15 for non-members and the tour is limited to 25 people—attendees should wear sturdy shoes and dress for autumn weather. Big Country News

- ➤ The University of Idaho will host the Borah Symposium from Sept 29 to Oct 1 at the Bruce M. Pitman Center as it explores global power competition—key events include a Tuesday colloquium on great power dynamics in the Middle East and keynote speeches with former government officials on Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Pullman Radio
- ➤ Miss Melannie Denise Cunningham, a Greater Tacoma peace prize winner and WSU alumna from the Class of 1981, founded The Cunningham Network, Inc. to train on anti-racist community building and hosted The People’s Gathering for open talks on equity—she now works with women in Ghana and South Africa on mentorship and entrepreneurship to uplift communities. - ➤ The Port of Whitman County has allocated $35,000 to restore historic rail cars at Pullman Depot Heritage Center in a joint effort with the Whitman County Historical Society. The project totals $225,000 — local government had previously earmarked $50,000 to restore the depot building. Pullman Radio
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Whitman County Public Health partners with Cougar Health Services and WSU’s Environmental Health and Safety Office to manage whooping cough cases on campus—testing and a five-day antibiotic treatment are used to protect vulnerable groups as reported cases reach 12. - ➤ The WSU men's golf team finished 7th in the Tindall 2025 on the Gold Mountain Olympic Course after a shaky round one (five over par), and senior Sam Renner (who hit two eagles) led the team to improve their score.
