CULTURE NEWS

  • The Watoto Children's Choir from Uganda will perform a free concert tonight at Living Faith on South Grand Avenue in Pullman — the show starts at 7:00 p.m. and is open to everyone.  Pullman Radio

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Cougs in Space Club at WSU hosted two networking events last week so students could meet space industry professionals. The first event at the Spark featured aerospace engineer Gary Lai at a keynote session from 4 to 6 p.m.—while the second event at the Lighty Student Services building hosted an alumni panel with retired NASA worker Donnie Dunbar and others.  The Daily Evergreen
  • Washington State University offers quiet study spots as midterms crowd the main libraries—students can find calm areas at the Terrell Library Atrium, on the top floor of the Compton Union Building, or outside near Murrow Hall. Other spots like Spark classrooms and the Chinook Student Center’s napping pods give students a welcome break from busy schedules.  The Daily Evergreen
  • WSU reported its third straight year of first-year enrollment growth, though total enrollment remains below pre-COVID levels. President Cantwell said the university will work to boost student retention and graduation rates.  The Daily Evergreen

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Pullman settled with former City Administrator Mike Urban—paying him nearly $220,000 to end his claims over his job separation—and agreed to record his departure as an employment separation rather than a resignation. Urban was placed on paid leave in March before leaving his job amid a dispute linked to a former police chief's controversy.  Pullman Radio

  • Fall has arrived in Pullman, with cooler weather and a shift from long summer heat to crisp days—pumpkin sales at Rosauers on Sept. 21 signal a seasonal change that inspires comfortable clothing and local traditions. SPORTS NEWS

  • Former Washington State players made big plays in the NFL this past weekend — Daniel Ekuale, Chau Smith-Wade and Brennan Jackson all had standout games — and they earned higher grades from Pro Football Focus, showing that Cougars athletes continue to shine.  The Daily Evergreen
  • The UW Huskies defeated the Cougars 59 to 24 in the 117th Apple Cup at Gesa Field on September 21 as key plays — including an early sack by Buddha Peleti and a three-touchdown performance by Jonah Coleman — helped UW build an early lead. The loss dropped the Cougars to 2 to 2 as they prepared to play Colorado State University on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.  The Daily Evergreen
  • The Cougars won their second home game last Friday with a 6–4 record and a high attack percentage—Eliana Ti’a led with 12 kills after a tough loss to Washington. They will face San Francisco at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Bohler Gym as they prepare for conference play.  The Daily Evergreen
