BUSINESS NEWS

  • Plans for a larger winery for Merry Cellars in Pullman fell through because the project became too expensive. The Port of Whitman County finalized a deal this week to buy back the land in the Pullman Industrial Park — winemaker Patrick Merry said he is still seeking to expand his current facility.  Pullman Radio

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Drivers in Washington are paying high gas prices at $4.33 per gallon—state taxes and Climate Commitment Act fees add over $1 to the cost. Stations have begun buying a cheaper winter fuel mix and some saw a 10‑cent drop on Monday, with further decreases expected soon.  KXLY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Anne Mason was named interim dean of Washington State University College of Nursing in Spokane effective immediately—she replaced Mary Koithan who retired after five years. Mason, an alumna of the college, began her career as associate dean for academic affairs in 2002.  Pullman Radio

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Local wildlife officials announced new deer hunting rules that will take effect soon—hunters are advised to review the updated guidelines to ensure they follow all changes.  KXLY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The repaving of U.S. Highway 195 near Pullman will be postponed until next spring due to a union strike that recently ended — crews had started work for a week before the dispute halted progress along 9 miles of roadway at Harlow's Dip.  Pullman Radio

SPORTS NEWS

  • The 117th Apple Cup will take place on Sunday as the college football rivalry continues with teams facing off. Local fans in Pullman expect a competitive game — the event is set to draw a big crowd.  KXLY
