Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 11th of September.
Good morning, Pullman.
🏘️ Community
Pullman will host a community picnic on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. on NE Kamiaken between Main and Olsen, where neighbors can enjoy food, live music, bingo, and specials — if it rains, the event moves to the Pullman Recreation Center at 190 SE Crestview.
🎓 Education
Sunnyside Elementary in Pullman was named a Model Professional Learning Community at Work by education group Solution Tree — one of about 600 schools earning national recognition for improving student achievement.
The honor reflects a three-year commitment to better instruction.
🏛️ Government
Boyer Park & Marina, below Lower Granite Dam on the Snake River, is under new management; the Port of Whitman County Commissioners signed a lease with Lakeside Companies from Coeur d’Alene, which plans to invest in park improvements while Boyer remains a KOA campground.
Pullman will lower flags at city hall, the police station, and fire stations at 8:46 a.m. today as part of a ceremony — commemorating the 25th anniversary of 9/11 — that invites the public to join in remembrance.
