CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Shawn Johnson, a 58-year-old from Sequim accused of a rolling shooting spree that fired shots on the Palouse and near a trooper on State Route 26, was found incompetent to stand trial in Lewiston and is in Idaho custody for a competency review — no one was hurt on August 6th. Pullman Radio
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Exhibit entry days for next week’s Latah County Fair were changed from Wednesday to Monday and Tuesday— the fair will run from Thursday through Sunday in Moscow. Pullman Radio
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Washington State University will unveil a portrait of its 11th President, Kirk H. Schulz, at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art on Monday, September 8th at 4:00 p.m. The portrait, completed by artist Grace Flott, will join the collection honoring past presidents — starting with President Enoch Albert Bryan. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A brush fire on North Vista Circle near Colbert burned about 8 acres and threatened structures yesterday — firefighters from Spokane County Fire District 9 and the Washington Department of Natural Resources worked together with engines, a hand crew, a bulldozer, and a helicopter to contain the blaze. - ➤ The Vandals football team will wear all-black uniforms in Week 2—as part of a new look as they prepare for their upcoming game. KXLY
