COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Today, the Palouse Empire Fair begins at the fairgrounds on State Route 26 west of Colfax in Whitman County with a senior pancake breakfast at 8:00 followed by opening ceremonies at 10:00. The fair runs through Sunday—featuring carnival rides, rodeos, and contests at scheduled times.  Pullman Radio

BUSINESS NEWS

  • A new construction project is scheduled to start next week in Pullman—official details have not yet been released.  KXLY

CRIME NEWS

  • Pullman Police are investigating a case where a motorcyclist eluded an officer during a routine traffic stop on Colorado Street on Tuesday night—he sped away at 10:00 with an Idaho license plate and was last seen on Stadium Way.  Pullman Radio

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Whitman County Commissioners allocated $1 million from the local sales tax fund to the Port of Whitman County for a new commercialization scaling facility in Pullman—this project in the Pullman Industrial Park will support research efforts with Washington State University and the University of Idaho and is expected to create up to 100 well-paying jobs over five years. Construction funds will be provided over three years, and the facility will open in two years once full funding is secured.  Pullman Radio

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Washington State University moved up in Forbes annual ranking to 139th in the nation and 58th among public universities — up from 144th last year, while the University of Idaho dropped to 320th from 279th.  Pullman Radio

SPORTS NEWS

  • WSU unveiled its week 2 uniforms today as the team prepares for upcoming contests—officials said the new design aims to boost player unity.  KXLY
