- ➤ The Whitman County Humane Society will host its 1st Annual Golf Fore Pets Tournament on Sunday, September 14th at 10:00 AM at the Colfax Golf Course to raise $5,000 for shelter operations. - ➤ On August 17, the Whitman County Cougars Special Olympics team held its second Fire and Cop on Top fundraiser at the Walmart parking lot in Pullman—moved from July to match Walmart’s back-to-school event—and law enforcement and fire crews joined in a scheduled waterfight. Whitman County Gazette

- ➤ Washington State University in Pullman will end its central graphic design services on Oct. 31—design projects submitted by Oct. 15 will be completed before the budget cuts take full effect, and CougPrints Plus will continue operating at the Compton Union Building. KLEW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Pullman Transit updated its fall bus service to Washington State University and the Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport on Aug. 17. Four WSU Express Routes were restructured to balance service — an extra hour of evening travel was added while airport riders now transfer buses during weekday daytime hours. Whitman County Gazette
- ➤ Piper Dickinson, a former board treasurer of the Parks and Recreation District No. 5 in Rosalia, claimed that she and two elected board members were illegally removed on July 30 because they missed meetings—highlighting that the board held four special meetings without a quorum.
