A wildfire near State Route 127 in Whitman County began at 11:30 a.m. on August 13 when a motorhome caught fire, burned 1,500 acres, and threatened six structures, which led to Level 2 evacuations for homes along the highway from east of Pinnewawa Road to the Snake River and Highway 26 — State Route 127 remains closed between Zaring Cut-Off Road and the Snake River.
