COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Pullman Police rescued a baby raccoon that got tangled in a backyard soccer net Friday morning in a local yard—officers carefully freed the animal so it could return to playing.  KXLY
  • Tickets are still available for next week's 5th Quarter Rally fundraiser to benefit PRH's program that provides trainers at local high schools, which will be held Friday night August 8th at 6:00 at Red Barn Farms in Colton—money raised will help cover trainer costs for Pullman, Colton, Garfield-Palouse and Potlatch high schools.  Pullman Radio

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Scottish Highland games have returned to town and feature traditional athletic contests and cultural performances—a sign that local organizers are celebrating Scottish heritage.  KXLY

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The US Small Business Administration announced low-interest disaster loans for small businesses and nonprofits in Whitman County after the drought on July 15 — the Economic Injury Disaster Loan program offers loans up to $2 million with low rates and repayment terms up to 30 years.  Pullman Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Traffic on US195 near Pullman will face delays 24 hours a day Monday-Friday for several weeks starting Monday as Poe Asphalt works on a $3.5 million repaving project under WSDOT—temporary stoplights and work zones will cause delays up to 15 minutes but will not affect weekends or Labor Day. The project will resurface 9 miles of highway with nighttime paving and daytime guardrail work and is expected to finish in late September.  Pullman Radio

  • Former Coug Manzardo walked off a Guardians game today—local sources say he left abruptly without explanation.  KXLY
