CRIME NEWS

  • Bryan Kohberger was sentenced to four consecutive life sentences for killing four University of Idaho students (Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin) at a rental home in Moscow in November 2022 after admitting the crimes in a plea deal that removed his chance for appeal or parole.  Pullman Radio
  • A teen pleaded not guilty in court for a fatal hit-and-run in Pullman + police are continuing their investigation into the incident.  KXLY

CULTURE NEWS

  • Mozi Jones will perform Music on Main today at Pine Street Plaza starting at 6:00 p.m.—he will bring live music to downtown Pullman.  Pullman Radio

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Local education officials report that after-school program funding is in jeopardy due to state budget cuts—officials plan to meet soon to discuss alternative funding options.  KXLY
  • Pullman has named Stacie Echanove as the new Library Services Director at Neill Public Library. She brings deep experience from Latah County Library District + other library agencies as she works to enhance local services.  Pullman Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Pullman City Council has decided not to fill a vacant seat as primary voting is underway for the post. Councilman Trymaine Gaither resigned earlier this month so his family could move outside Pullman—seven candidates are now competing and voters will choose the new council member in November.  Pullman Radio
  • The Port of Whitman County was awarded a $75,000 CERB grant to fund a planning study at the Business Air Center that will include an environmental review, geotechnical analysis, and infrastructure assessment— with the Port matching 20% of the study costs. A land trade finalized on June 30 saved taxpayers $2 million and secured adjacent usable land, and the study is expected to finish by fall 2026 before construction begins.  Pullman Radio
