- ➤ Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories from Pullman released its fourth annual SEL Index of Freedom to rank business climates for all 50 states. The index ranks Idaho as the fourth best and Washington as 35th—unchanged from last year, and SEL founder Dr. Ed Schweitzer said it guides decisions on where to build, hire and grow. Pullman Radio
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Jean Bruce Scott, known for her role as pilot Caitlin O’Shannessy on Airwolf, will star in UI Repertory Theatre’s production of Driving Miss Daisy, which debuts this week. A special preview is set for Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Forge Theater — further showtimes are scheduled for Friday, Saturday and next weekend with free tickets for UI students and general admission priced between 6 and 26 dollars. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Twin brothers Brendan and Kieran Snekvik from Garfield-Palouse High School have been awarded WCAR scholarships to attend Washington State University. They both hold a 4.0 GPA and are active in sports and clubs — community leaders recommended them for the award. Pullman Radio
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Pullman Fire Chief Brett Nash announced his resignation with his final day set for Aug. 1st. He succeeded Mike Heston, who retired after 42 years of service. KLEW
