COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Warm weather has begun strawberry picking season in Green Bluff where local farms offer over ten varieties of fruit. Walters' Fruit Ranch is open for picking and Siemers Farm will launch its Strawberry Festival this weekend — giving visitors more ways to enjoy the season. KXLY
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Authorities continue the manhunt for Travis Decker—suspected killer—and ask anyone with information to contact police. KXLY
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Local singer/songwriter Ally Fraser performs today at Pine Creek Plaza from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in a free Music on Main event sponsored by the Kiwanis Club — her music fills downtown Pullman with live tunes. Pullman Radio
- ➤ The University of Idaho’s Screen on the Green series returns this summer for free outdoor movies at Theophilus Tower Lawn; today it kicks off with 'Snail Hunters' starting at dusk—seating opens at 7:30 p.m. Future films are scheduled through August. Pullman Radio
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Pullman Schools announced on June 11 that its two open elementary principal posts were filled—Cheyenne Webber from Jefferson Elementary will lead Kamiak Elementary and Elizabeth Pavlik from Minnesota will lead Franklin Elementary. Pullman Radio
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City Council received the final report on the downtown reconstruction project that began last year when Main Street was closed for work on underground utilities, sidewalks and other amenities. The project finished last month—new water, sewer and stormwater lines, bike lanes and landscaping were added—even though delays pushed costs $350,000 above budget, with extra funds from state, county and Chevron helping cover the overflow.
