  • U.S. Navy veteran Robert Bentley gets a new roof today from a joint effort by Owens Corning — Purple Heart Homes — Russell Quality Roofing to honor his service. Russell Quality Roofing met with Bentley's family months ago and has helped other veterans with new roofs before.  KLEW

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Sparks from a truck hauling a trailer ignited three small brush fires along State Route 128 near the Snake River east of Red Wolf Bridge Saturday night—Asotin County Fire District 1 Volunteers from Clarkston responded at 7:30 p.m.—and Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Deputies later stopped the driver at the state line.  Pullman Radio
  • A woman died in a house fire in Pullman, and authorities are investigating the cause.  KXLY

CRIME NEWS

  • A 55-year-old Pullman man named Michael Edwards was arrested after a violent road rage incident on Friday afternoon on SE Terre View Drive north of the Moscow-Pullman Highway—he allegedly rammed another vehicle three times and caused minor injuries to one passenger.  Pullman Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A study by Washington State University researchers found that urban jail incarceration rates are falling while rural areas see increases due to residents missing court dates, unpaid fines, and legal notices—leading to extra penalties like suspended licenses and arrest warrants. The findings suggest that limited legal resources in rural counties make it harder for residents to comply with legal processes.  KLEW
  • Local business leaders in Pullman are urging officials to add a stronger focus on homelessness in the upcoming government plan and say current measures do not meet community needs.  KXLY
  • The city of Pullman will host a public meeting on June 11 at 6:00 p.m. at Pullman City Hall to plan the future of its parks and recreation department, and residents can share feedback at the session.  Pullman Radio
