CRIME NEWS
- ➤ 26-year-old WSU student Erick Leal was convicted of rape in the third degree by a Whitman County jury and faces a jail term of 6—12 months and a 10-year sex offender registration—his sentencing hearing is set for July 25. Pullman Radio
- ➤ On Monday, a Whitman County judge sentenced a man convicted of second-degree rape to life in prison after he asked for a lighter sentence; he will be eligible for release after 90 months (the board will decide his release date) and must register as a sex offender while a lifetime Sexual Assault Protection Order protects the victim.
