- ➤ Local organizers announced a Superheroes Day event for kids that will feature fun, themed activities (more details on time and location will be shared soon). KXLY
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ On May 14, Port officials and community members broke ground in Tekoa for the new Tekoa Mountain Business Industrial Park. The project, which received a $2.1 million grant for infrastructure, is projected to create 42 full-time jobs + attract $23 million in private investment. Whitman County Gazette
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Pullman and Maynard-Price Post 52 American Legion will break ground on a new Veterans Memorial Park on Monday, May 25 at 11:00 a.m. at the corner of Fairmount Drive and Cemetery Road, marking the start of construction on Memorial Day. Pullman Radio
- ➤ The Port of Whitman County purchased 113 acres near Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport for a business park, closing on May 15 after a vote on Jan. 8. The due diligence process included an environmental site assessment and property surveys, supported by local leadership. Whitman County Gazette
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Pullman’s Greyhounds lost 11-4 to West Valley in the District 6 2A Championship on May 15. The team will play No. 1 Bainbridge tomorrow at 1 p.m. for the state opener, with Coach Agnew expressing hope for his five freshmen. Whitman County Gazette
- ➤ At the SE1B Qualifiers on Tuesday, May 12, Garfield-Palouse won the girls meet with 120 points while DeSales boys took first with 143 and Garfield-Palouse boys were the top county finishers with 129.5 points.
