CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 51-year-old Moscow man pleaded guilty to kidnapping his ex-girlfriend and locking her in a storage unit for about an hour at an apartment complex on 3ed Street in Latah County—he is set to be sentenced in July. Pullman Radio
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Pullman School District elementary schools will host a kindergarten open house for children turning 5 by August 31 on Thursday, May 29. The events run from 4:30—6:00 pm and families can enroll their child during the open house. Pullman Radio
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Port of Whitman County received a $500,000 federal grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to clean up the old gas station site at Front and Main Streets for a proposed new clinic in St. John. The port bought the property last fall to lease it to Whitman Hospital and Medical Clinics in Colfax — the current clinic is overcrowded. Pullman Radio
- ➤ Governor Bob Ferguson signed a law that will raise hunting and fishing license fees nearly 40 percent starting July 1. New rates set a resident fishing license at almost $63, a resident big game license at $117, and a non-resident big game license above $1,000 while the Discover Pass will rise from $30 to $45 in October to help cover budget cuts.
