- ➤ Volunteers extinguished a small wildland fire west of Pullman Thursday morning as Whitman County Fire District 12 and D14 from Colton-Uniontown responded around 9:30 on Boone Hill (Wawawai-Pullman Road). EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Mike Morgan, a longtime music teacher in Colfax schools, is retiring after 34 years and will have his final concert on Monday, May 11 at Colfax High School Auditorium. He will continue teaching until June 6 as he and his wife plan to travel with their grandchildren. Whitman County Gazette

- ➤ The House passed the Farm, Food, and National Security Act on April 30 and it now moves to the Senate. The bill includes Congressman Baumgartner’s amendment — focusing on the Columbia Basin Project to provide conservation funds for Eastern Washington’s water challenges. Whitman County Gazette
