ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A University of Idaho student, Emily Stoke, was critically injured in a head-on collision while driving home from Moscow over Easter weekend—her family has started a GoFundMe page to help cover her mounting medical expenses as she fights for recovery. KLEW
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Pullman High School Drama Club is presenting 'The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical' today at 7:00 p.m. in its auditorium as the season's third show—tickets cost $5 for students and $10 for adults. Additional performances are scheduled for May 2 at 7:00 p.m. and May 3 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Pullman Radio
- ➤ Thousands of Washington State University students will graduate this weekend — over 4,000 students will earn degrees including 3,168 bachelor's, 396 graduate, and more than 440 professional degrees. The list also includes 122 Doctors of Veterinary Medicine, 68 Doctors of Medicine, and 59 Doctors of Nursing Practice. KLEW
- ➤ On Wednesday night, the Pullman School Board voted evenly and did not reconsider the decision to cut the high school athletics and activities director position after over an hour of public comments, including strong support from AD Wendy Kruger & community members. Budget cuts drove the change and the duties will revert to an assistant principal. Pullman Radio
- ➤ Today, the Palouse Discovery Science Center hosts its free Family Science Night with the Grow Your Green theme — blending science exploration with hands-on financial literacy activities like a cash wind tunnel and berry planting station. The event runs from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Pullman. Pullman Radio
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Washington state lawmakers passed a bill that will raise litter fines starting this summer, increasing penalties from $50 to $125 for trash left on public spaces—state highway violations may total up to $218 when local charges apply. The law also extends the rule for plastic bag thickness until January 1, 2028 and now awaits Gov. Bob Ferguson’s signature. Big Country News

- ➤ FEMA has rescheduled public workshops to update the floodplain map for Whitman County—today in Pullman at 6:00 in city hall and next week in Colfax on May 8th at 6:00 in the Public Works Building. The new maps use digital technology to predict flooding more accurately than the old 1970s versions. Pullman Radio
