➤ Pullman's Parks and Recreation has opened registration for the free April Pool's Day event that teaches water and life jacket safety for youth and families—registration is required for entry. The event runs from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 26—each registrant will receive a free life jacket. KXLY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

➤ Whitman County Fire District #7 will host a free wildfire safety presentation at the Rosalia Fire Station that will begin at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25—residents will learn how to prepare and maintain their homes in the event of a wildfire. Pullman Radio

SPORTS NEWS

➤ The state department of fish and wildlife holds the annual trout fishing derby at Garfield Pond in Whitman County on Saturday for anglers age 14 and younger. The derby tags over 1,000 fish and offers rewards such as fishing gear, gift cards + Mariners tickets while running through Halloween. Pullman Radio
