COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Dent Recreation Area in AHSAHKA has reopened after a temporary closure due to a landslide on Old Dent Road. The Dent Acres boat ramp is open while the Dent Campground and Group Camping Area will open April 12—reservations can be made by calling 877-444-6777. Big Country News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ WSU’s Kinesiology Activity Program will host a women’s empowerment self-defense class on Saturday, April 12 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in PEB 145 on campus—certified facilitator Dyonne Davidson will lead the session, which is open to everyone and requires registration by April 10. Pullman Radio
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Pullman City Council will review proposed short term rental regulations today at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall when the planning commission presents a new plan—one that calls for a business license, safety measures, occupancy limits, and an annual permit—and council members will then decide on any changes before making a final decision on May 13th. Pullman Radio
- ➤ Downtown Pullman reconstruction entered its second year Monday. Crews are working to finish final items on Main Street over two weeks—drivers will face lane and parking closures on Main and Paradise Streets as the $12 million project funded by federal COVID relief is completed. Pullman Radio
- ➤ On April 7, crews began construction on Main Street and Paradise Street downtown with drivers facing single lane and shoulder closures — the city said one lane would remain open. The project will finish on April 18, and motorists should plan ahead for delays. KXLY
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Shane McFarland, the Online Wellness and Health Coordinator at WSU (faculty instructor, exercise physiologist and EMT), was appointed to the Pullman Regional Hospital Board after Commissioner Karen Karpman resigned last month. He will run for the elected seat this fall (the third board vacancy in recent months). Pullman Radio
