EDUCATION NEWS

  • During National 911 Education Month, first responders remind Pullman families to teach children to give their location, describe the emergency, stay calm, and not hang up (steps that help emergency teams respond quickly) when calling 911.  KXLY
  • Conservative commentator Charlie Kirk will speak at WSU on Thursday, April 17th at noon. His organization Turning Point USA announced that WSU is part of The American Comeback Tour — tickets for the event are free while details about the location remain unreleased.  Pullman Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State lawmakers in Olympia approved a transportation budget yesterday that includes a proposal for a highway use fee based on fuel efficiency to offset declining gas tax revenue. The fee—calculated at vehicle registration—will charge very efficient cars more while exempting less efficient and electric vehicles and must be finalized before the legislative session ends on April 27.  KXLY
  • The Moscow Police Department completed its 24th annual Citizen's Police Academy on Saturday. The eleven week course for the public and University of Idaho students included fingerprinting, field sobriety tests and a shooting range exercise — part of its effort to show what a career in law enforcement requires.  KLEW
