- ➤ Community members in Colfax can attend the third annual Kiwanis Club Masquerade on Saturday, March 28 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Colfax Golf Course (2402 Cedar Street) where ticket sales will help raise funds for school supplies benefiting nine local school districts. Whitman County Gazette
- ➤ Whitman County Humane Society is hosting Paws & Peeps, a dog-friendly Easter celebration in Pullman on Saturday, Mar. 29 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The event includes an egg hunt, vendors, Musical Sit plus a costume contest and a self-guided tour with fees benefiting animal welfare programs. - ➤ A special screening of the ESPN documentary 'Listen' will take place at WSU’s CUB on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. A panel discussion featuring WSU Police Chief Dawn Daniels, the documentary director, and Lauren McCluskey’s mother will follow the film. Pullman Radio
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Pullman’s Distinguished Young Woman scholarship program is scheduled for Saturday night at the high school starting at 7:00 p.m. The winner will advance to the state program this summer. Pullman Radio
- ➤ WSU will host its 17th Annual Kids' Science and Engineering Day on Saturday, March 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Sloan Hall on campus, offering free hands-on science and engineering activities for K-5 students led by current students and campus partners. Pullman Radio
- ➤ WSU professor Zhiwu Zhang is leading an international team to use AI for speeding up wheat breeding in Pullman; his project (funded with a $400,000 NSF grant) will develop an open-source tool to improve crop yields. Whitman County Gazette

- ➤ A controlled burn took place on Saturday, March 21 at Shady Lane in Palouse to protect trees from Western Pine Beetles. Whitman County Gazette
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Gritman Medical Center physicians were honored by the Idaho Academy of Family Physicians; Dr. Parker earned 2026 Family Physician of the Year and Dr. Fields received Advocate of the Year, and both will be celebrated at the annual conference in May + they are noted for patient care. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The University of Idaho golf course opening is delayed until spring because crews wait for wet turf to dry, and its driving range opens today from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Meanwhile, the Palouse Ridge course at WSU is open for play. Pullman Radio
- ➤ Wildcat baseball and softball games against Waitsburg have been postponed. Baseball will play a doubleheader—on the road against Dayton tomorrow at 11 a.m.—and then face Waitsburg on April 11, while softball will also play Waitsburg on April 11 at 11 a.m. Whitman County Gazette
- ➤ On March 21, Garfield-Palouse won both home games against Pomeroy, taking the first game 9–4 and the second 7–5 through strong hitting and solid pitching — the Vikings will host the Genesee Bulldogs on March 27 at 3 p.m. Whitman County Gazette
