COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On March 21, 2025, Alternatives to Violence Palouse set up a prom donation drive in Pullman and Moscow after receiving requests from survivors and teens of survivors needing prom outfits. Donations were accepted at 115 NW State St. in Pullman and 407 S Washington St. in Moscow.  Pullman Radio

EDUCATION NEWS

  • University of Idaho in Moscow received a 4.5-million-dollar grant to build AI tools that will make administrative work smoother and help manage research more easily - project lead Sarah Martonick said the tools will be shared with smaller schools and Southern Utah University in the future.  KXLY
  • Whitman County Association of Realtors is offering two $1,000 scholarships to local high school seniors (one for trade school and one for WSU students) to help them continue their education this fall. The group said the awards support higher education and workforce training opportunities.  Pullman Radio
  • Lawmakers advanced a bill on Thursday that would extend tuition-free special education services until students turn 22 after a federal lawsuit challenged the current age limits. The measure now awaits a House vote and its cost will vary with enrollment—budget concerns remain as state officials plan next steps.  Big Country News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Local philanthropists Ed and Beatriz Schweitzer and Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories offered to buy Pullman Aquatic Center to save the pool near Pullman High School. They plan to fix and operate the pool with new access for school teams, city workers and the public — a proposal emailed to city officials on Thursday morning — to lower costs and add tax revenue.  Pullman Radio
