COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Community members, former players and officials gathered at Colfax High School gym on March 14 to honor Coach Reece Jenkin, who touched many lives with his kind guidance and playful spirit. His family and friends shared fond memories that celebrated his lasting impact.  Whitman County Gazette
  • Tickets ended on Friday, Mar. 19 for the Chamber of Commerce Cabaret Dinner & Auction fundraiser. The event will be held on Saturday, Mar. 28 at the SEL Event Center in Pullman.  Pullman Radio
  • A Cooked Meal, a new nonprofit focused on hot meal access, will host a trivia night at Rico’s Pub in Pullman on Mar. 21 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Participants can compete for a chance to win a cake & other prizes while raising funds for nutritious meals.  Pullman Radio

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Pullman community college students will celebrate the end of their winter term today at noon with a public honor for Tawny Szumlas (Pullman City Councilwoman and Rico's owner) in the student lounge at the Math Learning Annex next to Daggy Hall at Washington State University.  Pullman Radio

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • After months of delays, Steptoe Butte State Park Heritage Site reopened with improved roads and better parking on Wednesday, Mar. 4; new bathrooms are expected later this month. Visitors can use a Discover Pass and enjoy hiking, birdwatching (and paragliding) each day from 8 a.m. to dusk.  Whitman County Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • US 195 construction will start Monday — the project will improve highway conditions for a better commute near Pullman. Drivers should expect limited delays during the work.  KXLY
