- ➤ National Agriculture Week honors the hardworking farmers, producers and suppliers who keep our tables full. Throughout the week, local stories will share how their dedication and new techniques help strengthen agriculture (a key part of our community). Big Country News
- ➤ Today, from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m., local businesses (Pup and Cups, Etsi Bravo, Paradise Creek Brewery, and Paradise Creek Trailside Taproom) will donate $1 from every drink sold to support the Whitman County Humane Society's Trap-Neuter-Return program for local cats. Limited-edition event shirts are available for purchase. Pullman Radio
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A home in the Deary area was destroyed by fire early Sunday morning on State Highway 8 and volunteer crews from Deary — with help from teams in Bovill, Kendrick/Juliaetta and Troy — stayed until about 5:00 a.m. with no injuries reported and the cause still under investigation. Pullman Radio
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ After winning the FIRST Impact Award at the PNW Oregon State Fair Event, the SciBorgs quickly removed floodwater from their Pullman workshop on March 14 and rebuilt their robot. They will now compete at the free PNW District Sundome Event on March 20 and 21 in their bright orange polos. Pullman Radio
- ➤ Winona McGraw won the Colfax Distinguished Young Woman Scholarship Program Saturday night, beating out seven other competitors. She will now compete in the state program in Pullman this summer. Pullman Radio
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Several downtown businesses experienced damage after weekend flooding, and longtime owner Melanie Hodges said her dress shop lost 491 dresses, which now must be hand washed despite last year's $12.3 million street reconstruction — a project aimed at reducing future flooding. KXLY
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Legislators cut WSU’s operating budget by just over $3 million, much less than Governor Ferguson’s proposed $18 million reduction. They also allocated $1.5 million for the Ensminger Pavilion upgrade and $1 million for the Creamery improvements on campus (according to university lobbyists). Pullman Radio
- ➤ City crews began installing new traffic signals and signs today at North Grand & Stadium Way near Rosauers to redirect drivers with one lane in every direction. The work will last about a week before traffic eases next Tuesday. Pullman Radio
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Pullman Regional Hospital earned Acute Stroke Ready recertification for the fifth consecutive year after beating national benchmarks for response times. In 2025, the hospital treated 59 stroke patients — a 59% increase from 2024 — and urges residents to call 911 using the BE FAST method if stroke symptoms occur. Pullman Radio
