COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A new art exhibition titled 100 Barnett Barns will open at Libey Gallery on Feb. 5 to raise funds for local cancer fighters Kage Cox + Coach Reese Jenkin. The show will feature a meet the artist reception on Feb. 6 from 5 to 6:30 p.m.  Whitman County Gazette
  • The League of Women Voters invites the public to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. at Trinity Lutheran Church on January 25 at 4:00 p.m. Childcare will be provided (for kids 6 and under) along with a light meal after the event.  Pullman Radio

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Downtown Pullman's Michelle's Closet is closing as the operator embarks on a new adventure and offers a half-off closeout sale until its final day on Feb. 15 (the shop opened in 2019).  Pullman Radio

CULTURE NEWS

  • Palouse Cult Film Revival and Moscow Comedy will host Moscow Lebowski Fest 2026 on Saturday, Jan. 24 at Zeppoz in Pullman and the Kenworthy Centre in Moscow. The event includes bowling from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and a screening of ‘The Big Lebowski’ from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.  Pullman Radio
  • Nine high school and college musicians will perform finalist recitals for the WA Idaho Symphony’s Young Artist Competition Sunday at First United Methodist Church in Moscow. Winners will be announced after the performances (free to attend) as the event runs from 1:30 to 4:30.  Pullman Radio

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Port of Whitman County received a $1 million grant from the Community Economic Revitalization Board Rural Ports Program to restore the Historical Oakesdale Mill in Oakesdale. Construction will begin in August and is expected to finish by year-end, adding a new roof, stabilization, and upgraded utilities — an effort to boost local economic growth.  Whitman County Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Eastern Washington University announced the 2025 Fall Dean’s List, honoring students who earned at least 12 quality hours and a minimum 3.5 GPA. Pullman achievers Hope Fulfs, Kaden Hamilton, Jordan Hendrickson, Caitlin Prouse and Porter Stock joined others across the county to be recognized.  Whitman County Gazette
